How do I adjust Idle settings on my '67 and what is the correct idle rpm? I have a problem with the car stalling at stops after running for a while. I've cleaned the carb., changed the plugs, and checked the dwell and it still does it. I have a stock 283 2bbl. Does anyone have any thoughts? Oh yeah, is the correct dwell setting 30?

Dwell is fine at 30 as long as the actual gap is close to correct, 18 thousands or so. Best to set idle in park. Slow down the idle to about 600 rpm and adjust the mixture screws at the front base of the carb. Turn in and out for best smooth idle, maybe about 1 1/2 turns out from seat. Both screws should be even. Then set idle speed to maybe 800 in park. Try it and if necessary set a little higher. I think vacuum advance should be hooked to the lower manifold vacuum outlet on the carb. Check the advance for correct operation and a good diaphragm. Nice to be able to actually adjust these things nowadays. tom
