..is this real market value??

And people wonder why the green LS5 I mentioned here that Mike bought was a good deal :)

I think shes a little over price but close to fair market value if its a 454 car. This car would be a gamble without build sheet. If you found the build sheet its a good deal. I personally wouldnt buy it with no build sheet or numbers motor ????
I just paid alot more for a 70 LS5 with owner history build sheet and numbers motor. Its in about the same shape as this one.
The person that buys this one is probably thinking about doing a LS6 clone. If its a 396 car it would be lucky to bring 45-50 when done.
From the math I have did it takes about 30k to restore if you do all the work yourself and dont use NOS parts.
The guy that bought the green car got an awesome deal.

I asked the seller for some info and he wouldn't send me anything without my email address. I don't like giving out my email address to ebay people due to so many scam artists.

If a seller doesn't try to answer questions or post more pics, I'd say there is something not right.

I'd say he should drop the reserve and take the bid he's got. That's already a lot more than I would give him!

..that is exactly what i was thinking....I have seen matching # project 70 SS's in that price range..

Thats a little high for a car that is a roller. But certainly not a car that is way overpriced. I would say 10-12k would have been a little more realistic.

From what I have read here about 70 models, Arlington buildsheets are not easy to find in good condition. I guess they were always found under the tar paper and rarely survived.

People are out of their minds. $5,000 would have been plenty for that. It doesn't even have an engine or trans.

If you know of any 70 SS's like that for $5000 I'll take 100 of them please...

10-12K is about right
8K it would be a score

There is a sweet driver malibu 70 in the classifieds right here, yes I know not an SS but he only wants $6500. Make it a clone and your still under what you paid for a stupid roller. Why do you people insist on putting these damn SS's on a pedistle. Its just a trim package...

Here it is. Is this car really not worth the money to you guys, yet a 70 SS (whooptydoo) roller for 3 times that is?

I'd rather have the $6500 non SS car
You would never catch me paying that kinda money for an SS roller unless it was perfect.
I was pretty suprised the reserve was that high

I think it's the fact that they are the rarer of the breed. (at least thats it for me)

Exactly. I see 1 Malibu to every 10 SS's (or clones). I am just feeling like its blind sheep more than anything. There are chevelles that are more rare than SS's and worth alot less. The whole rarity thing seems over played. People hear that the SS's are so much more rare and worth so much more, so they pay more. Then when they go to sell it they expect to get more. On and on, it keeps escalating. Everyone just seems so caught up in the SS money craze that they just keep making it worse and worse.

Am I just being a baby?

Around 8,000 SS 454 cars made for 1970 and almost 50,000 SS 396 cars made. That is a grand total of around 57,000 cars. Tell me what is so rare about them?

I admit I want a true Super Sport that I can build the way I want, which would be all factory except for under the hood. but I would be happy with a Malibu too. Why go through all the trouble of cloning a car? A big block and a 4 speed is more than good enough, even the suspension. I can understand the dash because I would put one of them in with the round gauges, and the cowl induction. But why go through all the trouble to get everything so called "SS" for a Malibu?

I honestly think that a majority ,not saying you guys, of the people are just buying the cars so they can have something to show off to their friends. It doesnt even matter about the cars its all about having a status symbol.

Nice looking car
My cynical side, says caution, seems theres ALWAYS some excuse, why the parts are missing, or the engine doesnt match
16 grand, no way
the one on the calssifieds here for 10,500, is a Much better deal IMHO
