"Chevrolet by the numbers" 1965-69 and 1970-75, does'nt list any engine codes, until the 1970 model year, that start with [C]...... and those had [3 letter codes].....Don.

The single C was used for 57 Impala 265/2bl, and 58-64 Impala with 283/2bl base engine. The casting number and cast date on top rear of engine
will help verify engine size and year.

Where on the top rear of engine -
on the drivers side, passenger side, at the middle?
Is it near the distributor? Just so I know where to put the mirror.
Thanks.
