Has anyone out there used the services of Greg Thompson at Electro-Tech Services in Blaine, MN? I'm thinking of having my AM 66 Chevelle Radio converted into a AM/FM..Just curious if anyone has done this..??

I haven't had them convert the radio in my '70 because it was originally an AM/FM but I have used them to rebuild it and get it operating as original.

I was very pleased with their work and Greg is very accessible to talk to on the phone. I found that the best time to call is at the end of the day. Turn around time is very good - usually one to two weeks and their pricing seemed fair. Eleven months after sending them my radio originally, my audio amplifier went out. Greg told me what to trouble shoot over the phone and after getting back to him with some voltage readings he said to send it back. Turned out to be a capacitor that went south. He replaced the bad one and another just to be on the safe side and did it under warranty - no questions asked and no return shipping charges.

S & M Electrotech also can provide speakers that are compatible with Delco radios but with much improved magnets. When I sent back my radio for the amplifier fix, I ordered a new new speaker to replace my original Delco. (about $40.00 in round numbers.) A BIG difference in sound quality/volume, considering the sound from the original radios wasn't that great in the first place.

I heard (on here a while ago) they did good work. Funny, but I've never heard of them otherwise, and I work in the close area of them.

I would recomend S & M for FM conversions . Also, they are also an excellent source for original type speakers for most all musclecars 60's-70's.
We personally do not do modern conversions here. We simply restore
the radios back to original specs so they look and operate as they did when new ,for people doing correct ,all original restorations.
We can restore your AM, or we can restore your am fm,(or am 8-track/ am fm 8-track)but we do not add modern FM into your am radio.
