Hi, I bought an operational cowl hood for my 72 Malibu. I have bought the flapper door for the hood, but it is about 1/4 in smaller all the way around than the hole in the hood, is this correct? I haven't been able to find anybody that has one for me to look at, or anybody that knows if this is the way its suppose to fit.

Thanks for the pics, but I still can't tell from the photo if the flapper door is the same size as the opening in the hood.

it has to be smaller. Otherwise it would not move. I am not sure how much. a quater inch a side sems like alot.

If its a 1/4" smaller, That will be an 1/8" all the way around. That should be about right.

That's better than the one my friend got, it was bigger than the hole.
