I just bought a '72 Chevelle and the previous owner said it has the original 3 speed auto. I was wondering if this is a good tranny or not? I'm running a 400 SB bored 6 over...406. 12 bolt, 3.73 gears. Thanks for the help guys.

Three speed turbo 350 and turbo 400's are two very good transmissions. The 400 is a bit stronger and often found in Big Block applications, while the 350 is more often seen in Small Block applications.

If the fluid is nice and pink, not burnt and smelly, and the tranny doesn't slip, sounds like a good transmission to me.
