: Horrible Hellish Priming experience.
feedphillipnow Jul 5th, 04, 6:17 PM Well today I masked everything off and attempted to prime everything. I borrowed my nieghbors air compressor its a pretty heavy duty craftsman. I kept trying to adjust the gun, and the airpressure on the unit itself. I just kept getting alot of air and no primer was coming through. In the begining it somewhat was. Then it all went to hell! I was thinking it may have gotten clogged so I took it appart and re-strained the primer still no go graemlins/sad.gif So I dont know if its my settings off, the gun, or the compressor.... This just sucked really bad.

BowtieAaron Jul 5th, 04, 11:53 PM if i were closer to ya, id come help you.
were u pulling the trigger back all the way, half way back is just air, full back is paint.
wut kind of gun are you using? HVLP? u should be spraying w/ about 50psi at the tank. i think its about 40 at the gun, but it all depends on the gun.
if i can think of anyting else ill post it.

feedphillipnow Jul 6th, 04, 12:48 AM Yeah I tried everything! I dont know what the problem is, tomorrow I will try it again. The only thing I can think of is it was clogged somehow, it sprays air like no tomorrow, seems clean, but nothing coming through. I have a HVLP Gravity gun for paint. But for priming Im just using one of those little standard tin sprayers.
TSN100 Jul 6th, 04, 1:59 AM If it's a siphon feed, one thing you can check is the air vent tube just above the cup. Any obstruction there, and it won't pick up at all.
Bad Rat 414 Jul 6th, 04, 7:30 AM I second the opinon on the vent tube.
BowtieAaron Jul 6th, 04, 9:44 AM ah, yes, i never thought of that. good point, i 3rd that. we had a siphon feed at school that couldnt spray at all, changed tubes, new gaskets, and it worked great ( was still abused by all the immature kids tho  ).

or the compressor.... This just sucked really bad. Compressors should blow, not suck :D although in modern conversations "suck" and "blow" are synonyms, i.e. "That sucks!" vs. "That blows!"
feedphillipnow Jul 6th, 04, 1:45 PM haha... yes yes. The tube may have had a little scuzz in it. Im going to clean this thing inside out and try it again. I'll let you guys know what happens today
