I was hoping the smart folks out there in TC land could answer a couple dumb questions. In the fisher body manual (page 35 & 36 from front), on the pages titled "External Trim Ornamentation" for the SS model it doesn't show the Chevelle by Chevrolet emblem on the trunk lid. The car I'm working on, which was a basket case, does not have any holes for this emblem in the deck lid either.
My questions:
1. did the SS come with this emblem?(I got it in the emblem kit I ordered)
2. If so, can someone give me the dimensions of where to mount it? Or where to find it in the assembly manual?
Thanks a bunch!

Im not sure about the Chevelle, but I know some 69 Camaros have been documented to have come without any trunk emblem. They were "supposed" to, but some made it through without it. If your car definitely shows no signs of ever having it, i would probably not drill out the decklid to put one on... especially since the fact it has no pierced holes filled on the backside, that pretty much "documents" the fact that it never did... unless of course its a repop decklid or something, which sounds unlikely if your car is a basketcase. I'd leave it off... like its always been... just my opinion.

Sure it had the emblem..
It was a Chevelle...
Your trunk lid must be from a different car... The Buick Skylark has the same truck lid with not holes, because there is no emblem.. (I am not sure if the Buick Skylark didn't have the emblem or the Monte Carlo.. It's one of those though..)
All 68-72 had the Chevelle by Chevrolet emblem on the trunk lid.

Bob the dimensions off my 70 SS Oshawa built car are as follows.
2 3/16" from the passenger side of trunk lid to the emblem.
3/4" from the bottom of the lid.
All measurements from the "by chevrolet" part of the emblem.
BTW...my trunk lid is original to the car and it definitely has the emblems. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I have no idea where the trunk lid came from as it was on the car when I got it... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif All I had was the shell on a rolling frame, and a BUNCH of parts that had either been pulled off of the car or just collected. Thought it would save me a lot of work stripping the car down..But the bad side is I'm sure once I go to reassemble, I'll end up missing many parts.. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif
RC, any chance I could get you to measure the front fender SS emblem locations as well? I had to find new front fenders, and all I could find were some from a Malibu, so I'm trying to figure out how to locate them (the assembly manual doesn't seem to show any sort of reference line for the measurements.)
Thanks again folks!!

Bob drop me a line sometime I have some pics with the dimensions on the photo. There are about seven holes you need to drill for the emblem. Also I have the dimensions for a SS 454 car, I have an orginal fender off a LS6 so this should be a help to you hopefully...Eric
