I have been looking for a couple weeks and it seems like prices are all over the place. How much should I pay/offer for rollers? Project cars (not ss) with engine tranny but in need of lots of work?

i paid 2400 for a basically rust free, non running (had engine/tranny--just wasnt wired up), complete '69 that came w/ a ton of parts.. sold about 1K worth of extra stuff, so was about 1400 into it at the start. that was in the bay area, so i thought i scored pretty well.

Its all about the condition and options. Anywhere from $600 (needs everything malibu) to maybe $50k (ls6 convert red/black 4k miles).

You should be able to find something decent(little rust) out there, I would think for around a grand. Just talked to someone there(Arizona) that almost couldn't give away a 69 roller. He let it go for $800. Just keep searching, I'm sure you'll find something that you can afford, and will make you happy! Good luck!

Where was he posting it? Dang I would have hopped on that! I can't seem to find any rollers except ebay and they are on the east coast.

I have seen a few rollers in the 2-3k range and they seem to sell in a reasonable amount of time . One 68 SS was $3500 and was gone in a couple days even needing some lower panel sections replaced.

Being from AZ you should have no reason to even think about an east coast car. The SW is your best bet.

When looking do you surf the web and papers only or do you cruise around you local area looking? Another avenue is to hang out with local guys into these cars as most of the good deals go by word of mouth and not some print or web ad. You might look up Jim Mac as he seems to find some cool stuff and I believe he is in AZ somewhere. Good Luck :)

Take the absolute most money your wife can stand, deduct about $25K and see if you are using black or red ink with the difference. These projects sometimes become hard to stop the bleeding and you would have been better off buying a finished car back of the money with a bank loan. There has been a 68 ss project in the Longview Texas Thrifty Nickel for $2500. Good Luck

I have been pricing roller, 69SS cars lately and they have all been going in the to high 4k to low 4k range. Call it 4,500 range I suppose.

I saw they 68, but it has a rollcage in it and the back seat has been "sheetmetal'd" when they put the rollcage in do they put holes and stuff in the body?

If it is installed correctly, the roll cage should be through the floor and welded to the frame, so yest there would be holes. That car has been for sale a long time hasn't it? I recall seeing it at least 6 months ago for $4500.

Is that the tubbed out car in red primer that needs finishing?
