Hello everyone,

I had the engine removed from my 66 Chevelle SS and had a balanced and blueprinted 69 396 350 installed. The old engine ran OK but the oil pressure was very low - time for a new engine or rebuild.

I was going to keep the old engine and try a rebuild, but why bother when the new engine is so strong and the old one was not a numbers match for my car.

I wonder what it might be worth. What I ask and what I get may be very different. It is pretty complete (needs starter and a few other minor things we took for the new engine) Has new Holley carb.

Here are some details:

Block is a GM2 casting and number 3855961. Correct for 66 325 or 36HP with 2 bolt. Cast date is G315 (July 31st, 1965?) Front pad is T0909IN (assembled 9/9/65) and came out of a car with (partial) vin C106592 I believe IN is for a full size Chevy - (Impala?)

Cylinder heads: Driver side 3904390 (3904890?) date code J36 (GM4t PASS)
Pass side - can't tell
Exhaust: RH 39181178
LH not decipherable

Is this enough info to get a handle on what this setup might be worth? Does my info make sense and is it correct? It does need a rebuild but I think the block is good.

Thanks for the help.

I live in SW FL (Naples) and would want to sell it locally or oick up only.

Thanks for the help.

there are a trillion 961 blocks out there. Then IN is indeed a full size code designating 325HP Powerglide. Nothing special about the heads 99-101 CC closed chambers correct for the year. 702's are usually more desirable. If it were running ok with good oil pressure maybe bring 1k intake to pan. accessories make it worth more, geographic location make it worth more, but as a core I'd say about 500 bucks right now. Who knows, throw it up on craigslist and ebay for 1k and work backwards if you have to. good luck.. JN
