I have removed the pin striping on my car but I'm left with some residue from the adhesive. What do you reccommend to remove this tape residue?
Thanks,
Fred

3M trim adhesive removal. Comes in a red and white can at your autobody paint store and most general auto parts stores.

I use "Goo-Gone" and a soft micro fiber cloth to remove just about any kind of adhesive residue. Just don’t soak your stripes, or they may come off as well!

Brake fluid might work.....but it will also take off your paint as well.

Just kidding.

The 3M stuff works nice, but it will also take off the wax too obviously. No biggie to just wax it again after your done.

Denatured alcohol

I've used it for years, will not harm anything like a finish on a car. Lighter fluid works perfect for that sort of thing.

53chev, are you kidding about the brake fluid working, or the part about taking the paint off? I have some spots on my 66 and thought I would try it, what do you think.

LOL-Brake fluid is NOT to be used on paint.

It eats paint like a fat lady at a pie eating contest.

Thanks for all the tips. I got it off with denatured alcohol and 3M adhesive cleaner. Don't forget the most important cleaner---Elbow Grease-- needed lots of it to remove the glue. LOL.
Thanks all,
Fred

I keep a can of wax & adhesive remover in my garage at all times, works great on a lot of applications

I used a 3M rubber wheel that mounts in a drill chuck to remove the pinstripes a glue that is used behind the trim moldings on my Z71. It worked great, didn't hurt the paint at all. Picked it up at the local auto paint supply store.

I agree with the rubber wheel. It is from 3M I think. Takes the residue off and will not hurt the paint.
