I know it’s Corvette, but I was wondering what you guys thought this was worth. I’m planning to advertise this on a corvette website, possibly ebay or to Carlisle next month. No expense was spared, and all wear parts were replaced on the rebuild of this engine. The short block and heads have been professionally rebuilt and assembled to factory specifications by “Northeast Machine” in Tonawanda NY, included in the rebuild were new standard pins and pistons. The heads were rebuilt using all new parts including stainless steel valves, and hardened seats to run on unleaded gas. I have just over 3K in new parts for the rebuild and machine work cost. I have a $ number in my mind and looking for some outside opinions.

The block casting # is 3892657 that is dated D 11 7 (67 327ci) with a suffix code of V04I3 HT stamped into the head pad. (Corvette Special High Performance)
The heads casting # are 3890462 (camel hump, no accessory holes, 64cc) with dates D 25 7 and A 16 7
The aluminum Winters intake 3890490 is perfect, and looks like it was taken off a engine back in 67 and wrapped up and stored away, or a service part that was never installed.
I have Oil pan, TCC, crank damper, and water pump dated C 31 7. starter
I do NOT have the dist, valve covers, carb (should be holley3810), alt, and pulleys.

Hey, I love throwing my hat in this game ... don't fret, everyone says my $ estimates are way low.

My guess is you'll be lucky to get your $3k back!

Don't take any disrespect ... but I fail to see the point to a numbers engine, that isn't in the numbers car. If they don't match, they never will match ... so what's the point? Just me though.

Anyhow, that's my guess ... I say you could clear $1,000 for a non-assembled, non-running, no-warranty SBC long block. By the way, I paid less than $1k for my low mile 454 long block.

Thanks, Neal

I tend to agree with Neal...

Also, its ONLY a 327. '67 Corvettes are hot, but most likely someone building one (that needs a motor), is going to drop a 427 in it...

Is that casting number "unique" the the Special High Perf motor? Or is the same block used for all 1967 327 engines? If its only the suffix code that differs (thinking block only), then the block isn't really worth much more than any other 327 in similar condition (IMO).

They all use the same 2 bolt blocks, so the code is the only thing different. The intake should probably bring $350-450, the heads $450-650, depending on if they are real (unshrouded) or built heads, and the rest of the stuff is just plain 327. I'd say you will be lucky to get $1500, probably will get offers closer to $1000-1200,maybe lower.

Is there are VIN number stamped on the engine pad from the Corvette the engine was originally installed? If there is a VIN on the pad, advertise the engine on Corvetteforum.com or NCRS.org

A complete "HT" coded 1966 Corvette engine (Air Cleaner to oil pan) sold at the Louisville Ky AACA Kyana swap meet for $1500. It sat there a 1 1/2 days before it sold. This engine had the correct carb, fuel line, finned balancer, aluminum intake, correct heads, distributor, aluminum valve covers, EVERYTHING! The engine was original and not rebuilt.

There certainly are restorers who are looking for good 657's. The date on your engine (April) is fair as fair as desirability. Earlier would be better since it might match more cars.

$3000 is probably top money at this time given the fact that it is/was professinally rebuilt. There are just not a lot of people looking for these engines UNLESS you find the guy with the car that this engine was originally installed within! Otherwise all you really have is a nice rebuilt 67 327 engine with a casting number that will fit ANY Chevrolet originally built in 67 since the the 657 castinig was used in EVERYTHING!

Thanks for the input guys. I would have thought that the 67 only casting with the corvette suffix code, would have some added value. That casting is good for 67 Camaro 302 Z28 and 67 Camaro 350ci also. There are other 327 casting #’s for multi year, including 67.
Someone I know wants the short block and heads for his boat, and will pay me what I have into the machine work and parts for it. Sounds like a good use for it, and he knows that I love to fish as much as he dose.:D
