Guys,

I am in at the end of my restoration of my '70 SS. Big problem though, one of the Hood bolts is walking out/slipping out....not because the bolt is stripped, but the receiving nut that is in the hood is stripped....what do I do...????.... the hood is already painted and is original. I also dont have the the money to buy a new one!

I heard one solution was to weld the bolt onto the hood, but I do not want to permanently do that.

Guys please help. I am sure someone has had this problem before.

Please feel free to post as I will check every few days.

Happy Holidays.---Franchise

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to get a metric bolt that would be one size larger that the standard size.....retap the threads to the Metric size ( make sure you don't dimple the hood), tighten the bolt and "forget about it"

I had the same problem I can't think of the proper name for the kit maybe someone else can jump in with the name you get them at any auto part store, anyway take the hood off the car you drill the bolt hole out and retap it to a larger tap that comes in the kit and insert a repair thread to the same original size, works great you use the original bolt, Marty
