Ok,we are trying to line up the rear bumper on my 69 chevelle.I took of the old one last year, and now I'm ready to put the new one on,but can't get it lined up.We are using the same bolts, washers, brackets, etc, but having no luck. This bumper is brand new and from Ausley's.Are there any tricks or methods,or whatever?

Time, that's what I found out it took on my 69. The brackets and the framed are slotted for adjustment. I just played around with it until I got it where I l iked it.

Did you tighten the brackets to the bumpers 1st,then adjust/tighten the bumper to the car, etc?Or did you have to adjust the brackets on the bumper also? You know what I mean?

That's exactly what I did. The brackets need to be bolted to the bumper first, it makes adjusting it a lot easier. I did it by myself as well, but having an extra set of hands sure helps.

Yeah, that's how me and a buddy are trying to do it,but there is a little play in the brackets/bumper,so I didn't know if you can adjust that also.Guess I just have to try again.Wanna come and put my bumper on to? ;)

Did mine about a month back, did you rermember to put the spacer under the left (driver side) bracket?
I didnt know there was one there untill I looked in the service manual, really makes a difference.

T.C. Well, when I removed the original one last year,I kept all the same nuts, bolts, washers, etc, and now we can't get it to line up.Everytime we tighten the bolts that go from the brackets to the car,it pulls the lower half of the bumper in to far,and will hit on the side of the car a bit,and we can't get the left/right side gap correct. What size was this spacer you are talking about, and why is there only one on one side of the car?
