I went to check out this Canadian built 70 chevelle tonight. The body is very rough, basically it needs every panel. and the interior is MIA. All the glass is good. The stainless moldings are good. It does have the original 307 w/auto and 10 bolt that ran last summer. I figured if nothing else I could part it out to help fund my 66? The guy is asking $1200. What do ya think?

what are you going to part out? The interior is gone, the sheet metal is worthless, the engine you can't give away. It probably has a PG that you can't give away, and the 10 bolt is also scrap metal. I don't hear $1200 worth of parts.

Ok. The 307 was my biggest question. It does have a TH350. It's too bad it's so far gone, it would be a cool car to drive. I just can't see spending all that $ on sheetmetal that won't fit right to begin with. The guy has cut out half of each quarter, trunk floor, and portions of the inside floor. Also the lower rear window channel is rotted too. I'll probably pass I guess.

Don't let my one response talk you out of it. But It doesn't sound like one worth parting out from that short description. Sounds about like the one I'm restoring

Welcome to an eastern car!.... they look like they were sitting in salt for years... its a bit of a distance but there's better deals out west where the bodies are usually fairly solid... you can buy a solid driver for not much more $ if you look around...

Well I am buying the car. I actually pre-sold enough parts to cover the purchase, and still have a complete motor, tranny, and rear, and all glass and moldings. May be more parts when I get it home to see. Turns out I only had to pay half of what he wanted. So it worked out for him and me! He gets it out of his yard, and I can make a few bucks to sink in to my 66! Wish it was in slightly better shape, it would be a cool car to have.

If its as bad as you say, can you tell us what you presold? Here in AZ I have a hard time selling chevelle parts. I advertised a complete front end. I already had the fenders patched (butwelded) clean flat hood, hinges, granted it wasnt something youd toss on a restored car. but for a driver. it was fine. I finally let it go for $300 just to get it out of the yard. Even included all 4 t-3 working headlights. and bezels Jim

Wire harness, header panel, headlight bezels, core support, misc clips, brackets, hardware, sway bars, etc...

Jim, if I could find a deal on driver quality parts like you had, I may have concidered a quick fix up to this so I could enjoy it!
It would be great if shipping wasn't so expensive, we could be restoring rust buckets out here, and you could be getting decent $ for your parts out there!

we have a couple of regulars in town that all they do is buy sheetmetal at swap meets, junkyards, classifieds. One guy takes a load back east every few months.I understand hes making big $$$ doing this. Jim
