OK, I know this has been talked about before, but no one mentioned this. On the side of the firewall/cowl. (Seen it called cowl extension panel) The part that rusts out at the lower end on most Chevelles, lower fender attach area. My left side is very bad and will require some extensive creatability. Is this removable? The caulking scrapes off easily and it seems the seam can be separated. Before I get too deep into this, is it also spot welded? Has anyone taking these off before. Is it possible? I saw some on here repair it, but can it be removed and worked on the bench? What would be the best method to repair the rusted out area? Thanks

I had the same prob. but I went ahead and fabricated some sheet metal patches and welded them in. The only other thing that I could of done is try to find a donor car and cut the cowl section out to replace mine.
As far as taking the cowl off I think that would be a major chore..as the dash and window post etc. are all attached to the cowl
