Daytona Jeff Dec 9th, 02, 11:38 AM Hard to say from the pic, but it looks like a Zolatone coating to me. Zolatone is a xylene based coating originally designed as a "seamless wallcovering" but I have seen it used as a trunk coating. It's available in a wide range of color combinations and is fairly durable. I doubt it would hold up in a bed though.
BIGMOE65 Dec 9th, 02, 11:57 AM Thanks Jeff, I have heard the zolatone name before but was wondering what else its called, as for durability Im not going to haul much around.
Ken K Dec 9th, 02, 12:22 PM That stuff holds up on a truck bed. Lots of people in AZ use it. I have a El Camino that someone sprayed the bed about 20 years ago and it's still in there but I want it out LOL. You can forget about trying to sand it out, paint remover works though.
66chevelless427 Dec 9th, 02, 4:15 PM Have you looked into the rhino bed liners or covers. Its a rubber like substance sprayed from a 1/8" to 1/4" thick. It is EXTREMELY durable. It has excellent no-skid characteristics. A friend of mine had it put in his pick up and its been there for a couple of years and he uses his bed almost constantly and still looks great.
It comes in different colors also.

BIGMOE65 Dec 9th, 02, 4:46 PM 66chevelless427, yes I have looked into those types of liners but a little to expensive for what I want. Im going for the cosmetic look.
cjlandry Dec 9th, 02, 5:50 PM I saw some brochures on that coating at the auto paint supply last year.

sevt_chevelle Dec 9th, 02, 11:14 PM Moe, I saw some Dupli color bed coating for sell and it ran for around 50-70 bucks. It was pretty mcuh the same thing as the rhino liner. I believe you can get it in a few different colors. Also you can get a kit that you can either brush it on or spary it on. More then likey thats what I will be appling to the underside of my 70 just for the hassle-worry free
BIGMOE65 Dec 10th, 02, 10:13 AM Thanks for all the info guys, well I got in touch with the owner of the elcamino and he said it was zolatone. Thanks again guys.

BIGMOE65 Dec 10th, 02, 11:27 AM Your the man Jeff, thanks again. I was told not to use the zolatone for automotive use, but use the marine version since its epoxy based. The auto tybe is water based but I have not confirmed it yet. I will post back.
