Well guys, I am still looking! Here is the car of the day:

1968 SS (138 vin) - Kansas built car 06D date. NN car with 765 interior. Car is now red. Cheap paint with a few scratches here and there over a solid, straight body. Light bubbling on the passengers side lower fender near the door. The rest of the body is exceptionally straight. Trunk is awesome, frame is one of the best I have seen.

The car is a no power nothing bench car, 4 speed, and what the seller claims is the 375hp engine. The front vin pad is completely blocked by an aftermarket AC compressor. and I wasnt able to get to the casting numbers. Seller says the front pad is decked, but it is a period correct 396 with 4 bolt mains, and square port heads that jive with the build date of the car. They are sending photos of the casting numbers tomorrow. This thing sounds absolutly incredible. Big, thumpy cam, flowmasters hanging about 2 feet after the headers - pure brute force!

Interior was REALLY nice, except for the dash, which I would fully replace. Aftermarket shifter, guages, and AC. Car rolls on 14 inch Rallys.

Seller is not presenting this as a numbers matching car, but he ran his ad at 20k. I know he is negotiable. I know NOTHNG about the 375hp engine, or their value. Looking for help there. I am thinking something like 16.5k would be a fair price for the car, but just throwing this out there for a sanity check. And no, I dont have pictures (

You should be getting good at this. Pretty soon you won't have to ask.

HT or CV?

the 375hp 396 has a solid lifter cam and is not that common, A/C was not available by GM with this engine or any other solid cam BB.
15K-17K I think would be a fair price if the engine is a true L-78.

Well, I should be getting better, but mainly I just like to throw these out there to sympathetic ears. Nobody I know cares. lol

This one is a hard top. The car has aftermarket AC, not factory. The seller has a lift availiable, so I am going to go back and do a more thorough inspection - i.e.removing valve covers, checking transmission stamps, etc. I am hoping I get lucky and the car has a #s matching M22 in it - only avaliable in the l78, right?

Anybody want to hazard a guess on the value of the motor out of the car?

Pretty sure the M-22 was an option like bucket seats and could be ordered behind any engine. Logic would dictate though that very few would have been ordered behind 6 cylinders or 307s. Still could be that chance though. Also it wasn't mandatory behind the L-78.

The engine out of the car in running form might go for $2-4k but only to somebody who wants a "correct motor" as bigger inch motors are the hot items of the market now. That's my opinon :)
