: Carlisle-Daty of the week?
I've always gone to Carlisle on Saturday, but may go on Thursday this spring. Has anyone gone on a Thursday? Is it any better or worse for finding many vendors? Is Saturday usually a better day? Any other observations?
Thanks,
Rich
Jason 67 conv Mar 25th, 07, 7:35 PM I have 2 vending spots and my father and I have been going for years. We get there Wednesday and leave Friday night. The good deals are always the first 2 days of the show. Weather will scare alot of people away also. If you are looking to get parts, Thursday would be a better day. Just my 2 cents.

Professor_SS Mar 25th, 07, 8:35 PM I'm going on thursday for the first time. Only down side I can see, is that on Sunday you can often times get a few deals, espec on sheet metal as those vendors would often rather cut the price than have to haul it back home.
74bowtie Mar 26th, 07, 5:36 AM Ill be there friday and saturday this year. Don't need much just love going and I'm sure I will buy something.
DUKE 69 Mar 26th, 07, 6:59 AM I, along with several friends, will be going again this yr. (12, in a row, I think). We will leave early thurs. AM andbe on the grounds by noon. It's getting so that finding "good stuff" is harder and harder but Thurs. and early Fri. seem to better. There is usually a TC get-together at the grandstand on either Fri. or Sat. around noon. Stay tuned, particularly in the cruise-in, show forum area for details. For me, it's the going part that is fun! Look forward to meeting up with more TC people. I will try to have some sort of sign or something with me. Otherwise, it's just a sea of humanity.

Well, Thursday sounds good to me, thanks for the replies! I have the Muncie trans. I need, but will be looking for all related parts; bell housing, clutch linkage etc. I changed the day this year so my wife could come with me. She enjoys the day and the last time we went together, she was spotting the parts I was looking for before me, She's got an eagle eye!
Looking forward to throwing my own gears when we go to the Northeast Chevelle meet in June!
Thanks,
Rich
mike pratola Mar 26th, 07, 2:30 PM We usually go on Thursday. Tried Wednesday a few years back and it was a bust, venders were still setting up and a lot weren't there yet. We've done Fridays with great success, it just depends on what day works best for most of us and also what the Weather Channel says. If any TC'ers are going either day keep it posted and let's try to get together.
PickSS Mar 26th, 07, 2:52 PM I usually go on thursday or friday. I can't stand the weekend crowds, especially when your trying to pull the kids wagon full of stuff around the grounds. Less crowded and more parts to choose from the earlier you go.
chevysrit Mar 27th, 07, 12:51 AM I have always gone Thursday. All the vendors are there and as someone said, the deals are best the first couple of days.If you going to just pickup parts from the vendors that sell Chevelle parts via catalog-like Ausleys etc, there is no need to go on Wed or Thurs. On Saturday I have heard the traffic is backed up on the turnpike sometimes a mile or two.Thats why I have never gone on a Saturday! I have been attending Carlisle since 1976! Gotta love it! The weather has a lot to do with the day to go too.If I see its going to be raining on Thursday, I go Wednesday. If it looks bad Wednesday, I go Thursday. There's just too many people there on Saturday to move around and by then that rare part you were looking for may be long gone!Good luck, enjoy it if you go and also plan to go to the GM nationals in June.
