: Paint code delete..$$ ??
71ScottB Mar 24th, 07, 10:53 AM I am the second owner of a 71 Chevelle SS (true SS) paint code delete car (Carolina Blue) All original sheet metal, interior 350 CID, 350 THM, bench seats, auto on the column, factory air, in excellent condition with ALL documentation. I have the build sheet, protecto plate, original dealer prep sheet, owners manual...every bit of original paper work you can imagine, with #'s matching engine and trans. I know there will be verying opinions on what its worth, but I have been givin ranges from $14-15K to $25-30K. I thought I would turn to the experts and see what you guys think. One more question.....is a "paint code delete" car more valuble?
macs69 Mar 24th, 07, 12:44 PM The strong suit of the car is that it's an SS with complete documentation. As for the Carolina Blue, it's all dependant on each potential buyer. Some may favor Ascot Blue, or Mulsanne Blue, over the more rare Carolina Blue. But, if you find someone who is just in love with Carolina Blue, your car couldn't be any more desirable.
savage71chevelless Mar 24th, 07, 2:38 PM I agree, you find some Carolina fan, that is into Chevelles, with that kind of documentation, you are looking at 30 grand for a car like that. If you wanna let it go for 14 grand, I will buy it today from you

Speaking as a former owner of a 1972 Carolina Blue SS, 350 At, 5 time NCOA class winner, I can tell you what you have is a real neat car, I love them to death. However, not everyone shares my opinion. If I had a nickle for everytime I heard " Thats not an original Chevelle color", could have gave away the car by the time I sold it!!! Has some following in the south for people who know what it is. I really never thought of it as an extra value, but if you find someone who falls in love with it, the color is an asset. When I sold mine in 1993, I got comparable market money for it, and I found someone who absolutely loved it. But there was only one who did, and the market for it will be narrower than a comparable red, blue, or other popular color. The trick is, to find that one buyer, and he may just pay you more for it. It is certainly rare. If you advertise it, concentrate on the color and look for the person who falls for it.
