i have looked at a lot of 70s seems they all have them but nothing ever in them.
anyone know what the threaded holes on top of the cowl behind, the hole that has rubber plug are for.did they never have a set of rear hood bumpers like on the front? just wonder why they would go to trouble of threading them for nothing.

Jerry, Those holes are there for a a very good reason. A "pin" type bolt is suppose to be screwed into the holes. They stick up about 2 inches. When you close the hood those pins go up inside holes in the hood. The purpose is to help stop the hood from coming through the windshield in a front end crash.
Think what a mess it would be with a head rolling around the back seat..

Jerry we don't want you running around in Sleepyhollow (Millville) in the Chevelle headless. I did not know that myself. I am glad to know what those are for.
thanks Bill i've looked on tons of 70's and none have those pins. i'll find some head rolling around back seat would be messy.

Mystery solved, Jerry!
Wonder where we might find some replacements since we both need them?
