My brother in law has a 72 chevelle drag car he is converting to look like a 70, front bumper, rear bumper, front fenders, grille and core sopport. Well he started putting it together and had bought a used front clip minus the front headlight pieces, the big painted pieces around the lights. Well he ordered a set of them and went to put them on and his headlights dont match up with the holes they are supposed to shine thru( the big holes). He thought maybe the radiator support was messed up so he bought a new core support for it for a 70 and they still dont line up. I have a 70 that is all original and mine line up fine. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? Thanks,

Andy

I don't 'really' know, but are the buckets for the lamps all the same? All this stuff might be mixed up. Left, Right, Inner, Outer. I do know that the bezels on a '69 are 'site specific' and are marked.

As Dave mentioned the headlight buckets are side and inner and outer specific. I have no idea what effect mixing them up would be.
Are the fender exts(the big painted pieces) GM parts or aftermarket parts. Since he ordered a set and if indeed aftermarket they might not be made correctly!!

How does the fender and exts line up? How do they fit when compared to the hood, grille etc? If everything fits right its pretty damn hard for something to be bent or out of whack.
The only thing that supports the headlight is the 2 adjusters that set the aim of the headlights. Does he have the proper screws in place for the adjusters or they screwed out far enough?
