Curious what this car in its present condition may be worth. I am not questioning the authenticity of his car, just how rare was a Malibu 400 sport coupe? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1&viewitem=&item=260098970054

I don't know what it is worth, but I really like it! You rarely see Malibus left stock in that condition, and with an LS-3 it would most likely have ended up cloned into an SS.
One thing though, he says it's one of 3 known. Maybe he only knows of 3 but there were certainly a lot more out there. They may be disguised as Super Sports

Check out the "malibu 400 website" put together by Rainer. It has alot of malibu 400 info. The previous owner of mine started to clone in to an SS but I have decloned much of it(left the cowl hood cuz I just love that flapper)I do love the fact that 400's are pretty rare but I think a true SS set up the same in 71 and 72 is worth more money( just not to me)

If I did a frame off, rotisserie restoration, I would have detailed the engine bay and replaced the rubber seals. The appraiser states these items were not done. I would not paint the power booster black if I spent that much time and money doing a frame off.
I asked the seller for pics of the undercarriage, suspension, brakes, bottom of engine and trans.
He should have shown pics of the body and frame separated but in the same pic.
