: FLAT BLACK PAINT ?

I'm looking to paint my chevelle flat black, :D
not with a can spray paint , but real car paint
can anyone give me pointers on what works best
and will stand up to washings and hot sunny days
seeing that it will A clear coat,I don't want that dusty primer look I want a flat to low gloss

You will have to put Crager SS mags on it to look right. Catalized black paint with a flattening agent in it will work.

Dupont is coming out with a new line of Premier
paints.. there show casing then at the shop next week.. the colors are limited but one of them is Hot Rod Flat Black... a finished flat top coat.. I can't wait to try it out on my flat black fiberglass bed cover on my El-Camino

I'm in the process of painting my 68' Chev short-box Satin Black

And yes, it will sport Cragars graemlins/thumbsup.gif

There was a posting about 22 inch rims on 69 a few days ago. I really loved the look of flat (dark grey) paint with big chromy wheels. It'll look very cool if you put some really shiny wheels on it! No need to go 22's though :D

My painter used Sherwin-Williams paint on the car, start to finish. All of the black, top bottom and firewall was the same base coat. But, the areas were clearcoated with a different clear. They used "matte" cor the underside, a concocsion of matte and gloss for the engine bay and gloss for the exterior. So, if you want "flat black", you can buy it in a clear coat.

PPG makes a FLAT clearcoat. PPG number 2060, and if you find you dont like gloss level you can add some regular clear to the mix the increase the gloss level...Eric
