I put in new door jamb seals on my 65 and now the seals are pushing out the rear of the door about 3/8". I lined up and adjusted the doors first before I put them in. Will they flatten out? The way they are now is not acceptable. The brand I used is soft seal.

I had the same problem with Soft Seal on my '66 ragtop. Switched over to Metro Gold series door wheatherstrip and doors shut PERFECT with very little adjustment. graemlins/hurray.gif Lots of people on this site have had trouble with Soft-Seal. :(

Thanks Todd, I called the place where I bought them and they said the metro's are thinner but they had a lot of complaints from people saying they were not sealing good enough, so they started selling soft seal. Oh well I guess its getting pushed out in the hot sun this weekend.

I have use both Metro and Soft Seal.. the Soft Seal is Harder (denser) foam then Metro..
but IMO both will work.. you got the idia. Push that baby out in the sun , the door will settle in Time. The other optino it to tighten up the stricker bolt

Thanks Wayne, I have the strikers fully tightened, actually Im out of room for adjustment, I could use a bit more. What Im thinking of doing is putting a ratcheting tie strap on the inside of the doors and pulling them in to each other while it sits in the sun. Any ideas on how to get more adjustment out of the strikers?

It seems most people have had better luck with Metro. Regards the shop's saying people have complaints about Metro not fitting--I've never seen a complaint here on Metro, but quiet a few on the others, so I'd take that one with a grain of salt.
Just my $0.02

Ive used both brands.....go with the Metro!!!!!
The soff seals in my camaro have never loosened up enough to keep from having to slam the doors to get them to latch properly. I replaced the factory seals at 70k miles, and the doors shut perfectly before I installed the new soff seals.
I will probably end up replacing them with Metro seals like I put on My Chevelle and my El Camino. They fit perfect and the doors shut solid and e-a-s-y. just my two cents!

I personally have seen the soft seal...and the way it forces the door out. It will "form" to the door after a while, but I'd rather have a snug fit than an ok fit. JM2C
