Finally getting a chance to continue working on the car and the rear axle is out getting new gears and from reading many posts on bushings; looks like rubber is the way to go. My question is does anyone know if later model harder durometer rubber bushings from say a 1LE Camaro fit? Or does anyone offer an aftermarket rubber bushing with more durometer than stock?
The car is a 70 and has UMI upper control arms with spherical rod end on the frame side and worn out stock rubber on the axle and Currietrac lowers. Contemplated putting spherical bearings on the axle, but figured that would be to harsh to ride quality. Car will see street/strip/open road racing events from time to time.
Thanks,
Pete

Welcome to team Chevelle!!
I would suggested getting quality bushings like Napa Premium, if those aren't avaiable I would get Moog. Anything new will be better then worn out components.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I am not aware of any tougher rubber bushings that are made for A-bodies. A rubber bushing with more durometer will be more resistant to flex. The reason why they recommend rubber bushings is because they flex so the axle can articulate.
I have read that sperical joints are not as loud/ harsh as people expexct them to be.

For myself I would suggest rubber because they are cheaper, should last longer, and fit. (I believe you have to modify the holes on the ears of the axle to install sperical rod ends)
