Hello all...

I am Super-Sporting a nice 1973 Chevelle that I got last fall. I know it has the stock 10 bolt rear end (...and stock gears:boring: ). I have a new set of 4.10's for it

Anyhoo, I was wondering if someone could confirm for me the gear size. I have read in a few places that it is 8.5", and I also read that prior to 1973 it was 8.2".

Just want to make sure I am buying the right size stuff.

Also, anyone know what series this carrier would be?

Thanks!!!

Ty

You will have the 8.5. You need to know what the original gears are to know what series differential you have. if it is a 2.56 or 2.41 it will be the 2 series. If it is a 2.73 to 3.73 it will be the 3 series. The 4.10 will go on the 3 series.

you probably have 2.73 gears with an 8.5" ring gear.
hmm.. yet another "ugly duckling" A body has shown up here. i've been noticing quite a few questions about the "forgotten" Chevelles lately.
this is a good thing..

I'vee been trying to talk a local guy out of his '73 Laguna for about a year now. It's all original and sitting under a tree waisting away.

Ha! Ugly Duckling...I like that. I bought the car CHEAP at an auction in the fall because everyone said "Eeeewwww". But it has new paint, a perfect interior, and a midly built 350. I have been gathering the very best in performance parts, and plan to build a nasty 400+hp 350 in the spring.

If it ain't pretty, at least it will be FAST!!

Thanks
