how much over spray is there when you spray on por-15 with a paint gun? i thinking of doing my trunk with por-15 and was wondering if i should spray it or brush it on? if i can get it down with no over spray that would be good?because i think brushing would be alot more work!

I would brush it on...it would be alot easier, and plus its not that bad...the brush marks tend to blend in, and there would much less to mask off.

POR will make the gun Junk also if you do not clean it throughly immediately. Ask me how I know.

I've heard that about POR-15 ruining guns. That's why I have decided not to use it. I am glad to have found out now instead of ruining a new gun.

Lacquer thinners will take POR off your hands and worked ok cleaning my gun as well. The finish is much more even when spraying as opposed to brushing. When brushing a big job that takes a long time, the POR starts to set up in the brush as well as the can and then the brush marks start to appear along with gray spots. Perhaps I just had a bad air day.

what did you thin the por-15 with and how much thinner did you use? and do you have any more tips on spraying por-15 like gun settings and pressure?

I sprayed the bottom of my car with por-15 and its alot faster than brushing the whole bottom. Really you can use laquar thinner on por-15 when its still wet inside the gun to clean out the gun but if you let it dry then forget it. Even on your hands also if the por-15 is still wet laquar will take it right off but if it dries you will have to wait until your skin starts to make it natuaraly fall off. But if you are worrying about ruining a gun just get on ebay and buy a cheap spray gun like i did i payed $0.99+ $14.00 shipping and used it to spray my por-15 on and cleaned the gun afterwards because the gun sprayed so good i was amazed and decided it was worth saving.

Yep, as long as you clean the gun immediately after use...the way you should anyway...you don't have to worry about damaging the gun.
I sprayed portions of the underside of my car with POR-15 without thinning it at all using a conventional Binks #7 gun; however, I turned the fan control completely off, used about 50#s air pressure, but still got some significant overspray. Since it was not thinned, the overspray was quite heavy, as in not well atomized. It did exactly what I wanted it to do, but spraying it isn't the best in all circumstances.

POR has a thinner/reducer for the POR 15. I dare say lacquer thinners might do just as well. It doesn't take much thinning for spraying so the stuff goes a long way.

A LITTLE WARNING
if you spray por use a great respirator not a good one preferably an enclosed system. it will get through most open systems. i sprayed it with a respirator with new canisters on it and I couldn't breath right for 3 days after. another word of advise make sure the temp is correct for the drying process if its to cold it will lay out great then you come in the next morning and there are runs all over, the temp is crucial. otherwise por is awesome
