i need some serious help on choosing a set of heads.

i have a 355, std stroke
stock flat tops (4valve relief). should be somwhere with 9.0 with 64cc.
looking at either voodoo 60103 or 60104 cam.
this motor is going in a 96 gmc sonoma, with a 5spd, and 410 gears.
i will run the current holley 300-36 if i choose the darts, or will buy an air gap for the vortecs.

now im looking at either..
a set of vortec heads i can get for 150 bucks,
or a set of dart iron eagle 165's. from aero head racing for 650 pair complete with 525 springs, screw in studs, stainless valves.

which would be the best bet to run, for about the least amount of money? i want roughly a 170cc head.
i know the vortecs need a bunch of work, and am just trying to see if they are really worth getting.

Those Dart 165cc heads are a great bargan for the $! I paid 654.xx for mine complete 72cc chambers shippped to me from Competitionproducts.com

They have good flow #'s for a replacement head and you can fit any standard bolt pattern intake on v.s. the vortecs intake pattern.

If you went bigger and badder I'd suggest skip the DART Iron Eagle 180cc's and jump to the 200cc Iron Eagle heads. The flow #'s from what i've seen are a night and day difference from those 2 heads by DART. The 180's are very close the the 165's,it would be a best interest to just go spend another $100 for a much better flowing head. Just my $.02

i forgot to mention that the 165 ie's flow 178cc on the intake side, and 70 on the exhaust. if that makes any difference.

thanks

the 180's are a better bet for you. Saves buying another manifold too. The 165s are just too small.

BTW, ports flow is in CFM, port volume is in CCs.
