I'm wanting to installing a console and "horseshoe" shifter in my 72'. My Chevelle came w/column shift. I was told that I have to modify my floor hump to make this work . Is that true???? Any other info would be great. Does anyone sell a "complete" kit(base,shifter,cable,bracket,ect...)? Thank in advance for any and all help......

Modify the hump would mean you have to put a hole there for the cable to come thru from tranny. .real quick, you need the correct rear support bracket.
Bolt shifter to floor. Console screws to floor with 2 screws at front, 2 bolts to shifter in front of shifter 2 behind shifter and 2 more at the rear bracket. Thats the way mine is mounted, 71.

Clear off your floor (assuming you'll be replacing the carpet anyway) or at least get down to the bare metal. You should see there's some dimples in the floor. Those dimples are where the bolt holes should be drilled. It's real easy to see when you put the shifter into the position. There's also a flat spot on the left side where the cable hole will need to be drilled. I had never done anything like this when I did mine, but had the same info I just gave you and it was a snap. If I get time, I can try to send a pic of mine without the console around it tonight.

I have some old magazine articles that cover installing a console in a Chevelle. Holler if you would like a copy and I'll send it to you...

The base of the shifter follows the floorpan.
