I just removed my rearend from my 70 LS5 and will be rebuilding it very soon. Could anyone tell me what color the rearend and diff. cover and trailing arms should be. I want too spray it with the best and as original "no rattle cans" paint available.
I will need all new hardware. What are the correct bushing, springs. Anything thing will help guide me in the right direction.
If it matters my car was built on Jan 28th in Atlanta.

Here is a good article on part colors. I would say the rear and diff cover should be the same color as the control arms, semi-gloss black is listed in the article for the arms

My body guy used a commercial black color (I'd have to look up what it was) that is extremly durable. It gets sprayed straight out of the can, no reducer. The drying time is very slow and it had almost a rubberish feel for the first few days then locked on like armour. I love it! I would also advise you, when in doubt or if the perfect starting gloss is not a must, to go with a glossier black rather than a flatter as it will be easier to wash and will likely repel dirt and contaminents better in the long run. Also as the shine fades over the years in will at worst still have that semi-gloss look you were trying for at the start!

Been there and glad to help. :O)

Thanks, this is what I needed. I do believe I will do it little glossier than stock.
