View Full Version : Cross shafts in upper control arms

How do you press these bushings out? The cross shafts prevent getting an arbor onto the backside of the bushing. I tried the search function but couldn't find anything. Maybe I used the wrong catch words.

air chisel knocks the little suckers right out ... then use a press to replace them

Burn them out, take a tourch and heat them up till they spit and splater then grab them with a pair of pliers and they pop right out

Do not chisel, you will mess up the arm. see this link

Glenn, how did you get the C clamp between the bushing and the shaft?

The end that goes around the bushing is open (it is a 3/4 circle). If that does not make sense I can post a picture. Any good parts store should have the tool for loan or rent. Let me know if you would like a picture.:waving:
