i don't know what it is, but i love big old trucks...in fact if i could get it past the wife, i'd have a big old fire truck.

any of you guys have old big trucks? i'm not talking about 1 ton chevy dually's, but early working trucks, c.o.e.'s and stuff like that...

i'm making it a point to own one some day, i don't care if fuel goes to $4 a gallon, i have a harley if it does, but someday, i want a work truck, perferably something from the 40's or 50's.......

I think they are awesome and I can't believe how cheap some of those big trucks go for. I want a fire truck. I keep telling my wife we can open a business and do kids birthday parties. Just an excuse I guess. They are cool!

I'm at work, so I cant see ebay (blocked)

But....
Being a former firefighter... I would love to have a small open cab truck for parades and such....
If I had one, I'd get a new dalmatian to go with !!!

Added to my watch list. Imagine it would cost a bundle to get cross country though.

You're better off buying one that's been restored. You could never sell it for what it costs to restore. My cousin has a old Model TT firetruck. He tried to sell it so he could restore a 1939 Chevy firetruck, but couldn't even get any offers and he was asking $10,000. I'm glad he kept it, lots of fun in parades.

Around here it seems every small town has an old firetruck from the 50s in perfect condition (well maintained, always garaged, and washed after each use) with under 5,000 miles on them they don't know what to do with. They're not worth much, not very good for fighting fires, require more maintenance than the new ones, take up space in the station, and only get used during parades. They all keep them around only because they haven't had any offers for them yet.

My cousin has a old Model TT firetruck.I'm sure the worm-gear rear axle's 18mph top speed may have had something to do with the low desireability. ;)

I just want to know how it can be both "survived untouched" and "fully restored"? It is a nice truck either way. I wonder what the reserve is?
