Did the '69 Chevelle offfer, as an option, plastic inner fender wells?
If so, were they associated with other options?
Thanks for the help.

Don't know if it was an option per se, but I do know that there were some with plastic and some without.

Plastic inner fenders were used at various times in normal production at all assembly plants.

I know for a fact that some did come with plastic. As I had one that I bought in 69 (new). 396 SS 375hp. Bench seat 4-speed. And it had plastic inner fender wells.

The Hurst Olds A bodies even had RED plastic inner fenders. Wonder if any of those ended up in a Chevelle? What with shortages and all.

I have a car built the 3rd week of may in Framington Mass with plastic inner fenders. The consencus is that northern cars got plastic due to the rust factor, and non rust belt cars got metal.

Who knows why, but there are lots of conspiracy theories. Folks say plastic repros are real bad fitters. Go metal.

My '72 came with plastics.

I tried to replace them with reproduction plastic inners but found that maybe cutting up 2 plastic Rubbermaid trash cans and stapling them together would probably have fit better.

I bought a set of metal reproductions and they fit like a glove.

I replaced mine with plastic ones from Year 1. I had to trim a few places, but I didn't have as much trouble as everyone seems to have had with them. I'd probally go with metal next time, but just so I could paint them body color to add more detail to the engine compartment.

My 1971 Monte, 1971 Malibu convertable, and 1972 Malibu hard top all have steel on the left and plastic on the right. I figured it was to help with the battery rust/corrosion problem on that side.

I wouldn't do that though. Keep it original looking.
