I managed to get up to the filming of Pinks All Out at Houston Raceway Park last weekend. I enjoy watching Pinks, mainly for entertainment due to that Tool of a host (glad to see he was not a vegetable after throwing that Gixxer down the track sans helmet, uhhhh "is it fast?")...anyway, I digress...
There was quite a turnout (pretty sure about 400 cars), beautiful day..lots of solid, fast runs, and a good variety of manufacturers represented overall. Minimal delays, got to see a lot of runs. Ten bucks well spent I think. It has been a while since I have been to the track, and it seemed as if there is a much larger quantity of fast street cars running around out there than there ever has been...I think I only saw a couple cars run in the 13's and 14's...seemed like everything was 12.99 and faster (and in many cases a lot faster).
As far as the show, Pinks All Out is a way better format for the show. They did a good job putting a really tight bracket of 16 cars together, which I believe were all running 9.95-10.05 range. There was some really good racing on those final 16 runs, so hats off to them for that.
I also got my entertainment laughs in, after seeing good 'ol Rich actually PRACTICE his arm flapping with no cars at the line-guess he needed to warm up, and he also did some public stretching, all of which made me (and quite a few others in attendance) chuckle...I think they said it will be a couple of months before it airs.
