Hello everyone-

I bought an aftermarket console for my '72. The car was originally a column shifter, the previous owner moved it to the floor with a "racing" console. Anyway, after reading archives here I learned that this car/console had only one rear mounting bracket that needs to be welded in. I ordered one and feel kinda like a monkey with a football trying to figure it out. It's "C" shaped, with a couple holes on each end, but I don't see a place to bolt it to the console. Is it the ends that get welded down? Do you drill holes in it after and secure the console to it through the bottom of the storage compartment? Please help before my wife realizes I don't know what I'm doing here! Thanks as always...

The console holes get drilled after the mount is welded down. I just used self tapping/self drilling screws.

Bracket Doesn't need to be welded down, a few holes, a few screws, your done. Just make sure you know the spot it needs to go. Than set console on bracket and mark your spot to drill holes in bracket.
Went thru this same thing this weekend.

So, the console bolts/screws to this bracket through the hole in the bottom of the console compartment? Just want to make sure...

Thanks,

Dave
