Parking brake doesn't work properly and need some guidance. The pedal assembly looks like it is from a 65-67. Here's a break down of the problem. The pedal doesn't snap up and just falls down close to the floor board. The cable that is connected to the assembly goes straight to the equalizer and the brake cables from the rear drums run to it. By looking at a reproduced assembly manual, there is supposed to be an assembly attached to the support bracket with a spring attached to it. Is this correct? If not, am I supposed to adjust the equalizer? I started to tighten it but doing so seems to only increase the tension to the drum cables. And one more question......If I do need this missing underneath assembly, where is a good place to pick one up? Thanks in advance for any advice given.

With the pedal applied ebrake, there is a spring wound around the front cable where it comes out of the housing. The intermediate cable has hooks that hook into the underbody and trans crossmember and to the wheel cables. The wheel cables have springs on them inside the brake drums. If any one of these attaching points is not correct, you'll have problems. You really need to adjust your brakes at the rear wheels before adjusting the ebrake. Hope this helps.
