: Paint on Dash

The guy that painted my '67 also painted the top of my dash. I provided the paint to him for this purpose that I got from a restorer that said it was especially for this purpose with "flattening" agent so it wouldn't be glossy & reflect in the windshield. My concern is that it turned out with a very "rough" texture or feel to the touch. It looks like the paint didn't "flow out" & might have been a little "dry". It looks good for color & lack of gloss, but I'm concerned about it being difficult to clean once the windshield is back in. What are some recommendations? I don't know if it could be sanded lightly to smooth it without going through. I'd like not to have to have it reshot if possible. Thanks...Odie.

Sounds like dry spray to me. Since the windshield is still out of the car, I'd try some very fine sandpaper to see if that might work, then follow with some compound. This is sort of a long shot, but worth a try. If not, time to repaint. Try enamel reduced with lacquer thinner. This will give you the correct sheen. rb6667
