I picked up a used (great price) 1970 grille that is not cracked, however someone painted it silver. And to top it off, it is the type of silver that rubs off on your hands. How might I remove the paint ? ? ? ?

Depending on the actual type of paint... I have used Turpentine on some and Varsol on other's. The plastic's were not harmed but I had to scrub and be patient. After that was done, I washed everything down with good ol' dish soap 3 times to make sure there was no residue and voila. I have done this on two dashes and on one grill for a Camaro which had that junky aluminum paint on it.

There is probably a better way but it's what I had handy at the time and it didn't cause any harm.

Hope it helps.

He is a rustoleum guy, so I suspect it is rustoleum.

I saw some paint remover for platic at NAPA, instructions say to spray on and scrub off, man that would be alot of scrubbing to get into each corner.

You don't want to use anything too aggressive, chemical wise. Remember that the plastic is 30 years old and has seen better day's. In either case case you are into some time and manual labour. Whatever you decide, test a "small" inconspicuous area and test it 1st and wait and see what it does.
