Well a while back I submitted some parts I painted.. Well here is the complete job! Things I have learned in this process. Be Patient, Don't paint wet on wet going from a sealer to a topcoat (even if the tech sheet says you can) it sags and bleeds. And Painting is FUN!!! I am going to paint one more car/bike before I get too my car (I hope) to get my process down. Then it'll be too the paint booth with my baby..

These are the parts www.normieschevelle.com/bike (http://www.normieschevelle.com/bike)

and this is the assembled bike all painted www.normieschevelle.com/bikeflame.jpg (http://www.normieschevelle.com/bikeflame.jpg)

So whaddya think?

I think you should quit your day job. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Looks great.

When I was a kid my neighbor was building a street rod and wanted to pin stripe it so he started practicing on EVERYTHING....
His motorcycle, tool box, mail box, the AHU, you name it if it was in his garage it was pin striped.

Post a pic when you do your mailbox http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Very nice indeed! How long did it take you to learn to paint? and what were the resources used to learn the basics? Videos? Books? JC? etc. I really want to learn how to paint, I mean bad...as well as weld. Thinking about taking basic courses at the JC but if I can learn myself and practice I would prefer that route.

Anyhow, looks great normie! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

Wow what a response http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Thanks Guys.. Actually the thing that did it for me was the cost of a paint job! Then I went too the message boards at sharpe www.sharpe1.com (http://www.sharpe1.com) and started reading, bought a how-to video from House of Kolor and went too it!!! Read the tech sheets and spray as recommended and Poof! Theres the finished product.. The paint work (once you get a feel for the gun and material) is a cake walk! it's the prep and detail work that kill you!!! For every beautifully painted car out there theres an Excellent body man (men) behind those few coats of paint!!! Thats where the true beauty is created!

Looks great! Are you spraying the parts with liquid mask and then cutting out the flames? What exactly are the steps you use? I have never tried flames, but sometime would like to try it.

Yes I did use liquid mask.. No did not especially like it on the tank or verticle surfaces.. anything horizontal works great... but the mask seems to RUN down thr sides leaving the film pretty thin to really make it easy too work with. I did use the stuff from a Jobber.. not the stuff made by House of kolor.. I think I will buy and try they're color mask the next job I do... For the tank and other items I made a stencil, and reverse taped it out! It was alot of work.. but came out nicely.. Wish I had the skill to draw freehand...
