My interior on my 65 elco is preped and ready for paint. I need suggestions on color and type of paint to be used. My interior color is factory light blue. I know some of the part houses carry lacquer paint that match but I was thinking of bc/cc. The problem is my paint supplier doesnt have a paint code for the interior, I am using PPG products. Also how glossy should it be. I dont need perfect factory look, I just want it to look real nice with durability. Any suggestions would be great.

I can't say for sure on a '65, but on my '67 the top of the dash was a grainy satin type finish (for glare reduction). I used acrylic enamel only because I had it, added some flattener, messed around with my gun settings, and sprayed it in such a way as to purposely make it a bit grainy. I don't know how everyone else does it, but this worked for me. I was happy with the results. The rest of the dash I used the same product without flattener, and sprayed a nice smooth glossy finish. I was told hand rubbed laquer would be the best for a accurate "factory" finish, it depends what you are after. As for matching your color, I'm not sure how they do that, but it can be done. For the ultimate gloss and depth, I would think bc/cc would be the only way.

My '65 EC which I have owned since 1967 is Tahitian Turquoise exterior paint with a light green interior color (aqua?). The paint on the doors inside just below the windows is fairly glossy. The (original)paint on the dash below the padded top, the ledge under thje rear window, and the windshield pillars is actually fairly subdued. Just a bit more glossy than a satin finish. I realize this is kind of a vague explanation, but hope it helps. I'm not where I can take another closer look at the car, but I will be in a couple of weeks.
