Where should I buy my new fenders from? I was kind of looking at OPG because of their free freight and 5% discount on orders over $500. Does OPG's fit ok?
Thanks

You want something that will fit buy the new goodmarks. They FIT I have them on car and seen others with them on and all of them fit great too. I dont know what brand OPG sells but its not goodmark then I wouldnt buy it. Their is a big difference between any goodmark panel and the "OTHERS" out there.

Since you are from MINN why dont you buy them from a dealer in MINN. None you say I can think of two...Auto city classics in Insatai(spelling might be wrong)which is near the twin cities, and friendly cheverolet in st paul.

Take a drive over their and save yourself on frieght and plus you will be able to see if the parts have damage on them or not. Plus if you plan on going to the car craft summer nats, you can pick them up there cause auto city classics has a booth set up...Eric

Does any dealer sell them? Who on the internet sells them, so I can see their prices. I think OPG make their own repros. By the way, do these fenders come with emblems and/or holes for emblems? Also, when and where is the Car Craft Summer Nationals and how can I find more about it?
Thanks

Auto City Classic's sell goodmarks. OPG doesnt make their they buy them from goodmark or shermen or whoever. No fenders DONT COME with emblems or holes you must drill your own.

When is the car craft summer nats... pick up an issue of car craft and look!! but in case you dont its july 19-21 at the minn state fair grounds.

Why dont you do a call up auto city classics and ask for a price on fenders and ask if they can bring them to the show...they will. On top of that IT WILL BE CHEAPER buying them from auto city then from OPG.

AUTO CITY CLASSICS IS A DEALER WHO SELLS GOODMARK PARTS!! Call them at 763-444-5880

Auto City Classics is cheaper than OPG? Wow, good! I found the date and location at Car Craft's website. How much is admission?

Friendly Chev has been straight with me. They have a parts person that specializes in performance & resto parts. I think he works 3 or 4 days a week. I would have to believe they would be honest with you if they have goodmarks, and what their experience has been. Karl

Ok, i'll have to call both of them tomorrow. What will those Goodmarks run me, compared to the OPG's?

I paid $299 for a 1970 from Goodmark.

Trevor i dont think you get the whole picture here. Do you know for sure what brand of fenders OPG is going to send? There is a BIG difference between the goodmark fenders and the ones made from sherman. The difference being that the goodmak fit and the shermans dont, Ive tried them both.

Now if you call up auto city and ask they will bring the fenders to the car show, you will be able to see what you are buying. If you dont like what you see, etc they have damage on them you dont have to buy them or auto city will get you another pair at THEIR COST NOT YOURS. But if you get yours from OPG and they are all beat to sh!t you just might be out of luck, more then likely you eat the shipping costs back to OPG.

OPG might have 5% discount going but knowing what I get and seeing it first is worth way more then some stupid discount.

Do yourself a favor and forget about OPG and their little discount and give auto city a call.

There is only one manufacture that make these fenders, and they are in Japan. The fenders you buy at shermins are the same at Goodmark. Goodmark is only a distributor, they do not manufacture these parts.

It must be a coincidence then because it seems that people that buy from anywhere else than Goodmark get fenders that dont fit.Ask Sevt_Chevelle and ask Lee(1970chevelle.net)

70SS you are right there is only one manufacture of aftermarket parts. It just must have been a bad day at the factory. The ones with the sherman box and stickers and with fit like dog breath, they must have slipped out of the mold when getting stamped. But the ones with goodmark box and stickers and with a fit like a glove they made it through. Just not on one side but both sides the sherman's slipped in the mold!!! hard to believe and I got them both I must be one lucky SOB.

Not only was the fit different but the metal was thinner and the quality of the spot welds was poor on the shermans. But on the goomarks they looked great and had a heavier gauge of metal.

I know of two other cars that have the new retooled goodmarks and both of them look great.

70SS have you had any experience with the goodmarks and or sheramns?...Ive had the pleasure of both and I will tell you there is difference between the two.

I deal with more aftermarket parts in one day then most people on this site deal with in a lifetime and I know for a fact that there is more then company out there making parts for these cars and everyother car made. Theres a difference in chevy truck fenders, cab corners and rockers, fenders for a plymouth breeze. One companies stuff fits, others dont and I end up sending it back.
But I just guess that was a bad day at the factory too...parts slipped on the mold...yeah right...Eric

I think i'll go with the Goodmark's then. I just got off of the phone with Auto City and Friendly Chev. I called Auto City first, they said $289.99 per fender. I asked them if they were going to be at that Car Craft show, they said that they weren't going to be there. Then I called Friendly Chevrolet, they said $299 per fender. Then I told them Auto City's price. Then Friendly Chev said that if I buy a pair, they will lower the price to $279.99 per fender. That's $10 less than Auto City and $10 more than OPG. Plus, it's free shipping since I can drive there. Well, not necessarily free shipping. I told both of them that I would call them either tonight or tomorrow. What would you do?
Thanks

I have bought fenders from NPD, Shermins and CARS. All fenders fit like crap and had very thin metal. The fenders from cars had the Goodmark stickers on the box. All three fenders had the same fit problem and all had the same thin steel (measured with calipers). I took all fenders back and found a set of NOS fenders, they fit like a glove and the metal is the same thickness as the original.

Another thing that I noticed was the waves in the sheetmetal. All three fenders (repos) needed to be scimmed to the max to get flat, unlike the GM's. All the repos are made by the same manufacture over seas, Goodmark, Shermins, OPG and Cars are all just distributors.

Maybe Goodmark is a distributer with better quality control then others. My fender has no waves in it and fits like a glove. My door skin from NPD fits good but is wavy.I think the bottom line is you need to buy from a local place that you can drive to,see the part, buy it with the understanding that if it doesn't fit you can return it(dont paint it or modify it) and try something else.I have a guy about an hour from me who is really cool, and up front about all the parts he sells. If a part is garbage he tells me.He tells me the Goodmark stuff fits, the Dynacorn stuff is junk.So far he's been right. Its worth the hour trip not to have to hassle with the mail order company BS, especially with big items that are expensive to return. Also i save on freight.I was quoted $100 to ship a cowl hood,if its damaged i pay to return it.No thanks.

How can Goodmark be any different/better than the others if it's just a different distributor than the rest?

Dont try to figure out the twisted world of aftermarket parts, just listen to the advice of people who have been down that road before.

Well then I guess that I will give Friendly Chevy a call back tomorrow. I've got a few more questions, where the best or the cheapest place to get the front end fastener kits, bumper bolts, wheel-well trim, and fender emblems? Would Friendly Chevy have them?
Thanks
