Guys,I won't bore you with my combo :)
best 60 ft. is a 1.82 (average is 1.83-1.84) and this is with a 12" B+M 2400 Holeshot that flashes to about 3000-3100 (best ET is 12.56@108 MPH)
I can't complain about it but I wonder what a better quality convertor would do for my 60 ft. and overall ET
I'd love to be in the 1.79 range

I went from the Holeshot to a 10" ATI and picked up nothing. My son is using it now behind my old motor w/spray. I'm sure its holding up in his application better than a B&M would have. It seems to me you ought to be able to find a tweak in the tune to drop the 60ft times.

IMO, low 1.7X 60fts are definately possible with the right converter. I have an 8in BTE and it flashes to approx. 4800 (about 800 over peak torque)When I made a shock and spring change, the 60fts went from 1.7's to the 1.6's immediately. I too ran the 2400 B+M and it didnt flash high enough to take advantage of the torque. Why not try one of them there Redneck converters? :D Get yourself an 8in 4000 stall and see what happens. It seems people are somewhat happy with them and they dont appear to be too expensive. I dont know about the quality. I'll bet you run low 12's. JMO

As you probably know, there's A WHOLE LOT MORE to a torque converter than stall speed.

Competitive Stock Eliminator guys usually carry several converters that they change out to vary the tire hit, launch characteristics, and to compensate for varying altitudes.

If I were you, I'd call Mike Munsinger at Munsinger Converters (909-628-0740) and talk with him. Mike does not have a website. He's a 1 man shop and is VERY busy. He builds KILLER converters for Stock and Super Stock apps. He is extremely knowledgeable and great to talk with. Unfortunately, he is always very busy because his converters are in high demand, so his lead times can be long at certain times of the year.

BTW, his prices for a hand built unit are extremely reasonable and he will give you a free re-stall.

Call him. I'd bet money his stuff will pick you up a bunch.:)

Len Croteau at Ultimate Converter Concepts would be my second choice. I run one of his now only because his delivery time was quicker than Mike's at the time I needed one. Lenny's units are somewhat pricier than Mike's but are killer pieces, also. Free re-stall too, of course.

Thanks guys
Bob,I remember when you did that swap now that you mention it..did the ATI flash higher than the B+M?
Low 12's would be nice..this is a street car but it would still be nice to get the most out of what I have performance wise since I have NO plans on a gear swap or anything else for that matter.A convertor would be the easiest and biggest bang for the buck with minimum drama.
if a good tune and new convertor got me a 12.39 timeslip I would be very happy.

I think a LS (low stall) 10" would work best. A low stall 10" (about 3000 stall) will hit harder than a high stall 11"-12". Check out the Transmission Specialties LS10" unit.

Not bad....$346 for the 10" L/S

Thanks Joe

Also might want to give Coan a call. They have their 10" Competition converters on sale for $375.

I think you will be happy with that unit. At first it will seem a little lazy to you below 1500, you will get used to it real fast. Somewhat normal in light throttle between 1500 & 3000 until you hammer it. At full throttle a 10" unit will hit hard at full stall speed, (crude comparison but almost like dropping the clutch at 3000, but a lot smoother). This is what I now run. I had a 10" TCI Street Fighter in there (3800 stall) when first put together with the old 402 motor, was way too loose for me. Had it redone to one these 10"LS units.
