I'm getting ready to clean and paint the floor and inside of my car. What kind of paint should I use that will have some rust resistance and will I need to sand to bare metal?

How clean are the floors? I put brand new ones in and primed them and used that spray on sound deadener and sealer from NAPA or kragen. Not sure what the other people are doing but I thought it worked well.

Mine were clean with some light surface rust in a few spot. I wire-brushed it to remove the loose stuff then hit it with POR-15.

But I had extra POR. I think you just need to remove any loose rust (assuming no holes that need repaired), prime and paint with the quality paint. :D

I went the POR-15 route too. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. You can see pics in my "bodywork" link below...Hope it helps.

Don't all the paint have to be stripped to the bare metal to use por 15?

The interior floors don't get much paint from the factory. Damp carpet after 30 years pretty much lifted mine.

I wire brushed up most of the rest. I'd say I had 80% bare metal, so the POR stuck no problem.
