Hi gang. I purchased a 396 motor today and I am trying to see what I have, as I am a newbie to this. The heads have a cast # 8272292. I did not see any numbers on the front of the motor, but I will look again. In the meantime, on the drivers side rear of the motor is a cast #3999290. Next to that going toward the passenger side rear of the motor is CM9-T, then next to that toward the pass. side is F572. Just wondering if it is a 396 and what year, hp., etc. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

70 ..passenger

Could the head numbers be 6272292? If so, 6272292....70-78...oval...OPEN...402, 454

3999290....396.......68-69...2 or 4 bolt, Truck
3999290....402.......70-72...2 or 4 bolt, Truck
3999290....402.......72......2 or 4 bolt, Passenger
More than likely its a 72 402.

Yes, it is a 6 not an 8 on the heads(guess the eyes are the second thing to go) and I saw PASS. somewhere on the block so I go along with the 72. Thanks.
