: Moog CC501
chevy kevy Mar 14th, 07, 12:51 PM Does anyone who uses Moog CC501 springs in the rear have a picture of their
car you could show me?? I am thinking of going with these springs for my 71
chevelle and would like to see a picture of these springs installed on a 70-71-72 for reference.
Thanks
Kev
y72ss Mar 15th, 07, 8:57 PM I have tried those springs on my '72 and it sit 1" lower than with the 30 year old stock springs.
chevy kevy Mar 16th, 07, 11:04 AM I was under the impression that the cc501 was supposed to raise the rear by
1 inch ? I'm about fed up with this spring ****, I think I will just stick with my
risers and call it good. I can't believe there is not a company out there that makes a spring that is 1 or 2 inches over that of a stock spring.
Some of us still like the raked look.
y72ss Mar 16th, 07, 12:11 PM The cc springs are design so the car don't squat down with a load. You can call moog and they will send you a catalog with all the spring and specks. If you want a cc spring try a cc507.
furball8994 Mar 16th, 07, 12:19 PM Go to Auto zone and get a set of 71 station wagon springs. They will give you the look your looking for. I did this with my 68 LeMans I had years ago.
chassis man Mar 20th, 07, 6:44 PM If you go with the wagon spring you might have to get shock extentions or the shocks will top out and come apart. I did that in my 72 Chevelle about 20 years ago when the raked look was in. What a terrible ride, But it looked cool with the big tires sticking out. Chicks love it!! LOL.

chevy kevy Mar 22nd, 07, 1:20 PM thanks for the pics. I think the wagon springs are a little to high for my tastes. I have decided to just go with the cc501 and use my spacer.
Thanks.
Widetires22 Mar 22nd, 07, 2:25 PM I put in a pair of Air Lift 1000 bags. They go inside the stock coils. Rides nice and you can adjust the look anywhere from stock to about 2 inches up. It's easy to get the perfect look you want for under $100.
Twenty years ago my car had air shocks, so I know what that felt like. This feels like a dream in comparison. I run only 8lbs in each one and the fender lip is just above my 275/60 tires that stick out a bit.
These are the ones I use:

I believe we installed them with the stems at the top. And we used the dual line setup, so that each side can be inflated independantly.

Widetires22 Mar 22nd, 07, 5:32 PM Yes. Are those what you are refering to as risers?
Are you currently using them?
They work great for me!

chevy kevy Mar 22nd, 07, 6:31 PM No I actually have a 1 1/2" steel riser that sits under the coil on top of the perch. I may not need it now since I'm using the cc501's and the drag bags.
I'll know soon as I plan to install my new 12 bolt this weekend.
Widetires22 Mar 22nd, 07, 7:16 PM Hopefully the Moog's AREN'T lower than stock so that you have to run a lot of air to get the height you want. My stock coils and the bags work great.
I also put a new pair of GM stock springs in front for my big block that keeps it setting up nice how I like it too!

wildman926 Mar 25th, 07, 11:52 PM Moog makes a CC505 that is 1-2" higher than the CC501's. I bought them for my 69, but it raised it too high for my tastes. Sold them on ebay and bought the 501's. The 501's do squat down over time.
