I've got a smallish compressor (4.5hp, 20gal; about 8cfm at 40, 6.4cfm at 90) and have used a conventional siphon gun with decent results. I'd like to retire this gun to primer and would like to get a conventional gravity feed gun (I know I don't have the compressor for HVLP) for topcoating. What would be a good gun in the sub $150 range. One webiste says the DeVilbiss Finishline III is good for small compressors but the specs say it requires 10cfm @40? What gives? How can this and other guns use more air than some HVLP guns. Are these numbers accurate or would I be able to use the Finishline III or other conventional gravity feed gun with this compressor?
