Was wondering if any one has ever used z06 brakes on a chevelle? i have a 1970 chevelle id like to use them on but not sure if they would fit a 17 inch rims. the z06 front six piston caliper has 14 inche rotors. and the back has 13. i know 13 would be ok but not sure on the front. im a machinist so im going to make mounting brackets out of stainless steel. im not a fan of the pour touring look on a chevelle but im going to drive the piss out of mine so i would like it to be safe. thanks

Larry,
I've got a ton of experience with the six pot PBR's. They won't work with your 17" wheels. You'll need at least 18's.

Some 18's won't work either. Pay attention to the spoke design as the caliper face may not clear the spokes of the wheels either.

If you do decide to go with the six pot calipers let me know. I'll meet or beat anyone's price on the calipers or anyone other 'vette PBR calipers.

If I was in your shoes, I'd stick with the 13" setup and twin piston calipers. The six pot calipers haul your arse down very quickly, but after daily driving a vehicle with them you realize the pain added unsprung weight can be. Not to mention the money saved can go to other "more important" upgrades on the car - like tires

Our short spindle kit is on time to being released at the end of this month. Our '65-'73 Mustang to Cobra kit is launching today :D Can't wait.

For the record if you are talking about the C6 Z06 it has 8 piston front calipers and 6 pistons rears. The C5 Z06 doesn't have the 6-piston either...

Edit: I stand corrected they are 6 piston. Whoops...haha If they are just 6-piston you don't want those those are sissy brakes haha. I would be interested in getting them to work on my 67 as well.

You might want to check that record ;)

C6 Z06 are not worth the effort... They're very heavy, the rotors have directional cooling vanes, but only are available for one side (so one side will cool better than the other) and I haven't heard anything good about the 6 pads per caliper either.

C5 Z06 are the same as standard C5s, but the calipers are red instead of black.

Thats right i forgot about the backwards rotor situation. Somebody needs to figure out what needs to be done to make a bracket to make the CTS-V brakes work.

CTS-V rotors are 6-lug, but those big Brembo calipers would sure be nice with an aftermarket 14" rotor.

True enough I mean specificly the calipers the rotors would be of no use as you say they are 6-lug. I may just eventually break down and buy a caliper and see if I can't figure out a bracket to make it work. First i gotta get the engine swap done.

this post is almost the samething I wanted to ask.I was thinking about vette brakes. Any cost effective systems?

The C5 Z06 or regular C5 brakes (same thing) are pretty cost effective. Check out www.kore3.com .

I should have mentioned earlier that Kore3 is a good source but I believe Joe (72SSAbody ^) Can get you a better price on many of the parts so keep that in mind as well.

I bought front and rear Kore3 adapter plates for my C5 brakes on my 66 chevelle. Bought the cross drilled and sloted rotors on ebay for $150, new loaded rear PBR calipers on ebay for $100 and used take off front calipers for $150 on ebay. You can save alot of money if you are patient and wait for things to come up for sale on ebay. Its a very inexpensive and awesome brake kit.
