I saw a chevelle
68/69
bench, column, green, nothing obviously Hi Perf
but when it pulled in, it RUMBLED
I look at the fender, and it had 427 on the badge
a 12 bolt under the rear
and a turbo 400

So is this something special, or did someone just order the hi perf goodies on a standard chevelle?

It could have been a few different things......
a home made car, as the 427 transplant was popular since these cars were new.
Some dealers and high performance shops did 427 transplants.
For an extra charge, some dealers would upgrade you from a 396 to a 427 as part of a warrentee replacement.
The 1969 COPO 427 Chevelle did not have a 427 emblem from the factory but some did add them as the 427 Impala or Corvette emblems could be used.

There were no FACTORY built 68 427 Chevelles. There were some dealer built cars. In 1969 there was a COPO option 427 Chevelle. Very limited production. Lots of info on www.yenko.net
