I'm looking for my next project. I found this 70' about 2 1/2 hours from me and I'm going to look at it tomorrow. It didn't do all that well on ebay. The guy needs $5800 out of it as he said thats what he has in it.
Its an original Red with Saddle interior. It now has black interior with buckets/ console factory gauges are still in the car and the wiring is untouched under the dash. No tach... It needs a pass. quarter panel, drivers quarter needs a patch, the bottom of the drivers door is rusted and there are small holes in the trunk and two holes in the floors next to the kick panels,
Needs a motor/ trans. and brake booster.
I probably would try and make a driver out of it. No frame off just a good driver. I thought the price sounded reasonable for a real SS car.
The 12 bolt w/ F41 is still there... What do you guys think?

If you got the skills to do the work you cant lose. But if you have to pay to get it all done you may want to sharpen your pencil and do some figuring. I would jump on it if I was looking.

I don't really have the skills to do it all myself but, I'm learning. If I buy it I'm planning on doing it all with the exception of the paint... I'd like to even try to paint it myself but, I don't have a good place to do it.
Thanks for the input!

The new basecoat clear coat paints are pretty easy to paint with. I was taken under the wing of an experienced body man and he took me through the process. If you put on the full quarters the body work will be minimal. I would try to find the straightest panels you can find and weld up the floor pan etc. Let us know how you like it.

You think it would be best to put full quarters on rather than just partial panels? Are there good repro. full quarters out there?

Check the front carefully for a head on collision damage. Bent frame horns etc. The front of this car looks like it has had a front clip put on it.

Looked at the car this afternoon.. A little rougher than I thought it would be. It's going to need both qaurter panels, almost a complete trunk, trunk drop offs, drivers side door, drivers side fender, All new interior, seat covers, dash pad, carpet, headliner etc. The frame looks great and the suspension is all complete including F-41 rear suspension. I figured up parts alone and came up with about $10000 including trying to find a motor/ trans. I just don't know if it's worth it... He won't come off the $5800 at all. I was going to offer him $5000 but, I don't think he'll even consider it....
What do you all think? Could I find a car closer to done and save some $$'s or do you think it's a decent buy?

I have always found cash works take 50 $100 bills and see if he takes that. If he doesn't take that he probably won't come off his price.

I suppose the guy might have that invested, but usually E-bay will squeeze every penney out of a car thats for sale and it came up way below $5800.
I think you should keep looking. Maybe call him back in a month.

i would say no. this car is a mess, and way to much money. for a driver look alike(non ss or malibu) is half the money, and should be twice the car.
